Caldera is the leading rollup-as-a-service platform, making it easy for the most innovative blockchain applications to launch their own ultra-performant blockchains. Caldera supports 75+ rollups and is backed by Founders Fund, Dragonfly, and Sequoia. As Protocol Engineer (Metalayer), you will focus on the on-chain layer of the Metalayer — Caldera's high-performance, stack-agnostic bridge connecting 75+ rollups and their users. Key Responsibilities: - Architect and harden smart contracts that move real value across chains - Design security-critical role and upgrade patterns for cross-chain infrastructure - Collaborate with audit partners to ship code that can safely secure hundreds of millions of dollars - Work across Arbitrum, OP Stack, ZKsync, and emerging L2 frameworks - Drive security reviews and adversarial testing for on-chain components Requirements: - 3+ years of engineering experience, including shipping production protocols with significant TVL - Expert-level Solidity and/or Rust skills with deep grasp of EVM/SVM internals - Strong understanding of cross-chain bridge architecture and interoperability primitives - Experience with proxy patterns, upgradeability, and on-chain access control - Familiarity with shared sequencers, alternative DA layers, or rollup frameworks is a plus
